He'd been stuck in the house all day and figured it was time to get out and stretch his feet. Maybe not a smart thing to do but right now it was the ONLY thing he had to do.
Getting up off his couch, he grabbed his jacket top before leaving the house.

From force of habit he let his fingers trail across benches or touch the occasional fencing, catching brief glimpses of activities the objects had witnessed, locking it all away in his mind for permanent residency. His thoughts were always in motion, analysing, creating. With so much to remember and nothing to forget, it was easy to daydream.

So much in fact to not notice when a couple of vampires decided he looked like the next meal. He was no whizz when it came to brutality or fighting but he wasn't exactly inept. He managed a few good punches and had to stick to defense when they started getting serious instead of playful.

"Consider this repayment Al." Hannibal fired the electronic pistol and smirked a cocky little smirk as the disturbingly pale man burst into flames. "You know I rarely carry cash."

He batted ashen remains off his jacket while the other one took off running. It was always a pack thing, none of them had any balls on their own.

"So instead of buying your dates coffee, you shoot the undead? Is that a good pulling technique?"

She'd done just as Hannibal told her, stayed low. The sounds of a scuffle down below was all she heard, every sound made her worry he was hurt, but then she'd hear one of his smartass remarks and knew he was okay.

The sounds stopped and she peeked up curiously over the ledge of the rooftop. Relief swept over her when she saw he was okay, and apparently had a friend. Not sure if she should come down yet she kept quiet.

He looked up to the roof top hoping to see her. This was her first time out and King was still scolding himself for it.

"How you doin' up there princess?"

"Hmm, only the Queen and a prince and you've got a royal family"

Other people would have asked who 'princess' was but knowing King, Alan figured it'd be some girl or other...the title of princess was a kind of big giveaway.
Alan craned his neck upwards to the rooftops, he got psychic vibrations of nervousness and curiosity, a little panic in there too but without actually seeing the person he wouldn't gain much more than that.

"I don't bite sweetheart. That job's reserved for other species"

"Doing what you told me to."

She gave him a look that screamed 'Duh', not sure if he could see it from down there. It'd only been a couple of weeks since her transition and since then she'd only been around Hannibal. Other people made her nervous.

"Can I come down yet?"

King looked up at her and grinned. He nodded and waved her down.

"Al, that is Abigail....Abi, come on down."

Alan cocked his head on one side as he looked up at the young lady and muttered to himself.

"Abigail, huh?", he looked over at King and spoke in a normal volume, "she's very shy isn't she?", he smiled.

There was a bit of a block on the girl. Alan's talents at reading into people were limited to the point of invading secrecy. Anything a person regarded as secret, in his mind's eye, was presented to him as an iron door, or a wall which he couldn't pass. The only time this had been an exception was when he picked up on someone trying to remember their pin number by repeating it over and over in their head.

This girl Abigail had this block on her, but not where someone usually had it. The block for her was her origins, her recent history. Not some of it...ALL of it. It was very private for some reason.

She raised a brow and started for the fire escape.

"You know, I can hear you. Not shy, guarded."

For good reason, but he didn't need to know any of that yet, if ever. She never understood why people would sometimes talk like the person they're talking about isn't even there.

Hannibal was the only person that knew her past and in her mind he was the only person that needed to know. Reaching the ground she walked over to Hannibal and slipped an arm around his side, looking up at him with caring eyes.

"You didn't get hurt did you?"

King chuckled when he heard her spout off from up above.

"She doesn't miss much, Al. Abi's coming out of her shell though...just will take time. So, what exactly are you doing out here in the middle of the night, playing with the fang gang?"

Hannibal smirked at her.

"I'm fine. Not a scratch on me."

He shrugged, "what I always do. Occupy myself"

He glanced down at Abigail's arm around King's waist and smiled sweetly, "and what are YOU doing out here in the middle of the night exactly?", he mimicked.

He gave Abigail a quick wave, "hi, nice to meet you"

"Well we had a nice dinner at this restaurant he picked out, then we were taking a late walk. Sadly it was ruined by those asswipes and he had to take care of business."

Her head rest on his shoulder and she smiled.

"Likewise."

Alan pulled a face, "how are you not fat? Do you ever NOT eat?"

He already knew the answer to that but he'd learned that letting people tell you was beneficial to them as opposed to being told.

"He'll make you fat if you stick to his diet plan y'know", he directed to Abby.

Abigail thought about what they've already been through in such a short time. He used to drink a helluva lot more than he ate. Grinning she rest her hand on his stomach and patted.

"I keep it worked off of him."

Okay so that wasn't exactly true yet, but she didn't really like this guy.

"I need a little fattening up."

"Well, I need to feed...and she needs to fatten up apparently...so how bout we all get some food. There's a pool hall down the street with the best damn fries and ice cold beer."

Hannibal looked between the two of them.

"So?"

"Only if you don't mind"

She was so edgy...either that or I had my zip undone...or was drooling, or had a booger or something and she thought I was weird.
Then again...that assumption's pretty universal for me. Everyone thinks I'm weird...except crazy people.

"Sure?"

"Not at all."

She detached herself from Hannibal's side and took his hand.

"Chili cheese fries actually sound really good."

Sensing the discomfort in Hannibal she decided to tone it down a little and relax.

"Lead the way."

"Sure? Like you were going to say no Alan."

Hannibal took her hand and headed down the street towards the pool hall.

"Still staying...where ever you were staying the last time I saw you..." He thought about that for a moment, when was the last time he had seen him?

He followed in their steps.

"Yes King, I'm still living in a house", he stepped the pace up so he was walking on the opposite side of King to Abigail.

Smiling, "six months...give or take a few days", he said all knowingly.

She didn't really listen much to their conversation, nor did she offer anything into it. Walking hand in hand with him she looked straight ahead, keeping an ear out for anyone else that might intrude or cause a disturbance to interupt the evening.

"Yeah...seems about right....at the thing." Last time Hannibal had seen Alan was at the funeral. After that his world pretty much became a mess. Just a blur of bars and empty whiskey bottles. They had been good friends and King just walked away like he had with everything in his life.

The got to their destination and King pulled the door open, smiling at Abigail.

"Ladies first."

Alan kept things to himself for the rest of the journey. The topic they were getting to was sensitive to say the very least.
King let Abigail enter first and it was a shocking turn from what Alan had seen.

King was almost okay again. Almost. The downside to anything telepathic related is that sometimes...stuff comes to you, even when you don't want it to and plenty of bars had given me glimpses of King from just a simple hand on the counter. King would forget those moments in time, he would allow anything bad to reside in long memory like everyone else, covering them in good memories. With me, all memories stayed and it was times at their worst which made me envy the ability to forget and move on.

Alan stepped inside and smiled a bit as he recalled a bar-fight between him and King against three nutcases who couldn't take losing very well in a game of pool.

"Good times...", he said to himself, "where we sitting?", he asked his companions.

The smells assualted her and she grinned. Sometimes she forgot herself, but now that she could actually enjoy the smells and the tastes of food completely again she found herself indulging quite frequently.

"I don't care where we sit. I'll be right back, gonna go to the restroom."

she kissed Hannibals cheek and then walked off to the bathroom.

Hannibal watched her go and smirked.

"How about those beers?"

He felt a little awkward around Alan. King had just...well disappeared...fell into a bottle of whiskey and left everyone behind. Kinda forgot that he had friends.

"You know...I...well...it's been hard." He looked at Alan. "Didn't mean to just...vanish." King smirked at him and looked at the man in the trucker hat and flannel shirt with a beer belly so big he looked like he was gonna give birth to tripletts. "How many babies do you think that guy is having?"

"Forget about it. I've been occupied anyway"

He looked over at the huge man and smiled.

"You need psychic help to answer THAT question?"

Alan looked down at the table where he had an expensive mobile phone sat next to his last glass of beer and smiled.

"Want to see a new trick?", he asked King.

Alan looked from King back to the table and focused. Almost able to see the world in data format he found the right coding in his head and projected it. That was the best way to describe it. Suddenly the man's phone starting playing a jingle and he answered it to find nobody on the other end of the line.

"Yeah I know, I'm still a child, so sue me"

She walke dout and found them. Walking over to the table she sat down next to Hannibal and smiled, looking over the little plastic menu she rest her hand on his leg under the table, being more comfortable with him now and more sure of herself.

"I need some coffee, I'm freezing."

Already she'd decided on one or two things she wanted to eat.

"How the hell did you do that?"

Hannibal grinned at Alan. He knew he was ...different...but not that different.

A waitress named Betty approached their table next to the pool table.

"What can I getcha'?"

"Two beers, coffee, chili chees fries...I'll have a cheeseburger....Al what do you want?"

"Make that 2 cheeseburgers please"

"Coming right up"

Alan forgot that King didn't know everything about him. It was no secret to King that he was psychic of some sorts for lack of a better word but he'd never really explained everything.

"It's complicated", he turned to Abby, "it's good you're with King. He'll keep you safe. Saved me a few times..."

She smiled, if he knew the truth Abigail had saved Hannibal a little. But he did so much more, he gave her her life back.

"But who will keep him safe from me?"

Winking she nudged Hannibal's side. So she'd picked up a little of his joking attitude.
